Request for Expressions of Interest for Consultancy Services (Individual Consultants) for Social Assessment for Indigenous People in Lake Victoria North Water Service Board
Contract No. LVNWSB/WaSSIP/CS/IP/SA/2010
1. This Request for Expression of Interest follows the General Procurement Notice (GPN) for this project that appeared
in Development Business, issue No. 715 of 30th November 2007.
2. The Government of Kenya has received a credit from International Development Association (IDA), and intends to
apply part of the proceeds for consultancy services for Social Assessment of Indigenous People within Lake
Victoria North Water Service Board Area Contract No. LVNWSB/WaSSIP/CS/IP/SA/2010
The services required will include but not limited to:
  • To assist the WaSSIP Project to support the aspirations and needs of the indigenous peoples in Cherangany Hills.
  • To identify and prepare a comprehensive plan that will avert any potentially adverse effects from project interventions on indigenous people and where not possible or feasible, mitigate or compensate such adverse impacts.
  • To ensure that the project benefits reach the IPs in an equitable manner and through institutions that respect and are able to serve them in a decentralized manner.
The works are located within Lake Victoria North Water Service Board area. The baseline and social assessment
should be delivered in 5-7 weeks and monitoring after completion of investment is expected to take 2 weeks
3. The Lake Victoria North Water Services Board, a parastatal in the Ministry of Water and Irrigation, now invites
eligible Individual consultants to indicate their interest in providing the services.
Interested consultants must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (provide brochures, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills among staff, etc).
Consultants may associate to enhance their qualifications.
4. A consultant will be selected in accordance with the procedures set out in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Selection and
Employment of Consultants by World Bank Borrower, May 2004 (Revised October, 2006).
5. Interested consultants may obtain further information at the address below from 0745 to 1630 hours from Monday to Friday excluding lunch hour (1230 to 1400Hrs) and public holidays.
6. Expression of interest must be delivered to the address below by close of business on 23rd December 2010.
