The Transition Initiatives for Stabilization (TIS) program is funded by USAID and responds to the complex crisis that has evolved in Somalia. 

The overall program goal is to mitigate conflict; to promote stability and community cohesion, and to strengthen citizens’ relationships with government officials. 

TIS implements quick impact activities linked to longer-term stabilization goals.
 
The TIS program is currently seeking an effective and highly motivated Intern. 

As our Finance intern you will be part of the Finance department and work closely with team. 

The intern will be based at the TIS DAI support office in Nairobi.
 
Qualifications and skills sought:
  • Student pursing first degree in Bachelor of Commerce or equivalent.
  • Excellent writing and communications skills.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, ability to follow procedures, meet deadlines and work.
  • Independently and cooperatively with team members.
  • 2 – 3 months relevant experience preferably with International NGO/UN is highly desirable.
  • Excellent computer skills (Outlook express, MS Office, emails).
  • Good interpersonal skills, ability to multi-task and self-manage.
  • Ability to work with multi-ethnic team in a culturally appropriate manner.
  • Must have a good command of English in both oral and writing skills.
  • Somali speaking is a requirement.
  • Be able to interact with partners and peers.
  • Ability and willingness to learn and work with teams based in Nairobi and field sites.

Duties and responsibilities
 

Reporting to the Technical Advisor of FLC, the holder will,
  • Peruse the Internet and other existing literature to collect agronomic content on all major crops in Kenya including type of soils they flourish in best, weather conditions, climatic conditions, and the type of management required from planting to harvest.
  • Participate in planning and implementation of agricultural activities
  • Support direct and indirect in the planning, implementation and reporting on activities related to agricultural value chains
  • Assist in monitoring and evaluation, as per Results Based Management principles and frequent field visits
  • Participate in other tasks deemed relevant
Qualification and experience

NetHope Academy ICT Internship Program

The NetHope Academy Internship Program connects unemployed computer science, engineering, and ITgraduates with opportunities to gain professional job skills and experience through internships at local NGOs, government agencies and corporations.  There is skill gap between fresh graduates and what employers are looking for in entry level IT resources.  The NetHope Academy helps bridge that gap by providing qualified young IT professionals with great experience and host organizations with talented interns.

The NetHope Academy Internship Program provides classroom, online, and on the job training that is designed to help fresh graduates build the practical skills needed to find full time employment in the IT sector.  Through this program participants will gain professional job skills and experience through a 4-6 month internship in an IT department.  Interns will also benefit from over 200 hours of technical and non-technical classroom training during the NetHope Academy Internship Program.  Upon successful completion of the program, interns are well positioned to acquire full time IT jobsin Kenya. KIPPRA Young Professionals Programme Jobs in Kenya

As part of its mandate of building individual and institutional capacity, KIPPRA runs a one-year Young Professionals (YP) Programme. The Institute invites applications from suitable and qualified candidates for 2011/2012 programme, which commences in July 2011.

Vacancies exist within the following Divisions: Macroeconomics (Econometrics, statistics); Productive Sector (Agriculture, Industry, Services, Environment and Natural Resources, Trade and foreign policy etc); Social Sector (poverty, education, health, labour and other social issues); Infrastructure and Economic Services Sector (transport, energy, telecommunication, physical infrastructure etc); and Private Sector Development (investment, financial services, business environment, Governance etc).

Candidates must possess at least MA or MSc degree in Economics or related social sciences.

In their application letters, they should state clearly the target Division based on their area of specialization. Candidates with working experience will have added advantage. At least half of the available vacancies will be awarded to candidates from the public sector.

The YPs will be involved in hands-on research activities. They will also take courses offered by the Institute, and write a publishable paper. Candidates from the Public Service should have their application letters endorsed by their respective Permanent Secretaries or Chief Executives.

Within the Information Technology Division and reporting to the CIO or his designated supervisor the incumbent will undergo a development program which includes a combination of job rotation, functional exposure, work assignments, project assignments and formal training. Key Responsibilities

KEMRI ICT Intern Career Opportunity in Kenya

The Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) in collaboration with the University of Washington is conducting a research study at multiple sites in Kenya.

As part of the international mission of the University of Washington to transfer technology and build capacity, a rotational fixed duration work/study (internship) position has been established in the research study and recruitment is currently underway.

This project invites application for the following position:

ICT Intern

Basic Qualification

At a minimum, the application should be an advanced student currently enrolled in a computing technology course in at least a 2-year course but preferably a 4-year course.

Specifically, the student should have basic training and proficiency in:
  • Basic Networking
  • Microsoft Server 2003 & 2008
  • Microsoft Access 2007
  • Microsoft Office 2007 Suite
  • Strong skills in Visual Basic for Applications (VBA)
  • Microsoft Windows Operating Systems (XP, Vista Pro)
  • Exposure to any UNIX based Operating System is desired but not required.
Duration
  • The internship will run for a minimum of 3 months and a maximum of 4 months.
Remuneration

This position has a fixed monthly stipend of Ksh. 5,000 per month for a time commitment of 25 hours per week (equivalent to 5 hours every day Monday to Friday).

KEMRI ICT Intern Career Opportunity in Kenya

The Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) in collaboration with the University of Washington is conducting a research study at multiple sites in Kenya.

As part of the international mission of the University of Washington to transfer technology and build capacity, a rotational fixed duration work/study (internship) position has been established in the research study and recruitment is currently underway.

This project invites application for the following position:

ICT Intern

Basic Qualification

At a minimum, the application should be an advanced student currently enrolled in a computing technology course in at least a 2-year course but preferably a 4-year course.

Specifically, the student should have basic training and proficiency in:
  • Basic Networking
  • Microsoft Server 2003 & 2008
  • Microsoft Access 2007
  • Microsoft Office 2007 Suite
  • Strong skills in Visual Basic for Applications (VBA)
  • Microsoft Windows Operating Systems (XP, Vista Pro)
  • Exposure to any UNIX based Operating System is desired but not required.
Duration
  • The internship will run for a minimum of 3 months and a maximum of 4 months.
Remuneration

This position has a fixed monthly stipend of Ksh. 5,000 per month for a time commitment of 25 hours per week (equivalent to 5 hours every day Monday to Friday).

Work Details

Working under the direct supervision of the Systems Administrator, the ICT intern will be responsible for general maintenance of defined computer equipment and for the resolution of identified technical problems, as well as undertaking general tasks which will promote the use of ICT across the research activities. The ICT intern’s job responsibilities will spread across ICT and Data support.
