WOMEN RIGHTS PROJECT: JOB ADVERT AND TERMS OF REFERENCE FOR 2 POSITIONS.


Preamble: Norwegian Peoples Civil Society Development Program is looking for 2 candidates to fill the positions of  Project officer(based in Juba, within Central Equatoria State)  and Project Assistant (based in Bor town within Jonglei state) to enable us implement the Women’s Rights Project Strategic plan.
POSITION A.
1.       Position – Project Officer- Women’s  Rights
2.       Work Station – Juba with frequent travel to locations within Southern Sudan
3.       Unit Department - NPA -South Sudan Program
4.       Reports to – Project Manager, Women`s Rights
Purpose of the Position – Sub-project cycle management
Major duties and responsibilities
Under the supervision of   the Project Manager, and in cooperation with the Project Assistant and other NPA Staff to participate in:
Ø  Ensuring that the Project is implemented according to NPA South Sudan program , and Women’s Rights project Strategic plans
Ø  Provide technical expertise and relevant capacity building to external NPA partners and staff
Ø  Assist in documentation of Project outputs
Ø  Serve as a resource person for other projects and programs on issues concerning the Sexual harassment and gender policies of NPA
Carry out any other tasks as designated by the Project Manager
Key Competencies:
Ø  At least 1 years experience or knowledge of project management and women’s empowerment issues (including gender, Gender based violence etc)
Ø  A team player with networking skills, able to work with minimal supervision.
Ø  Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment
Ø  Fluency in written and spoken English a must. Knowledge of written or spoken Arabic is recommenced while knowledge of one or more of the local Southern Sudanese languages will be an added advantage
Ø  Basic computer skills
Education level:
Ø  A bachelors degree from a recognized University in any of the social sciences including Law, sociology, gender, development, political science ,international studies, international relations etc. OR an advanced diploma in any of these fields coupled with at least 1 year of relevant experience in project management.
Ø  A Diploma or Certificate  or 1 years  experience in Project Cycle Management OR women’s empowerment issues
Ø  A certificate or demonstrable experience in TOT training
Other:
Only Southern Sudanese Nationals may apply.  Position based in Juba town within Central Equatoria State, with some travel to other parts of Southern Sudan.
POSITION B.
1. Position – Project Assistant – Women’s Rights
2. Work Station - Bor town, Jonglei state with some travel within Jonglei State and other locations within                                                                                      Southern Sudan
3. Unit Department – NPA –South Sudan Program
4. Reports to – Project Officer
Purpose of the position – Liaison between the head office and partners on the ground.
Major duties and responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Project Officer, and in cooperation with the other Program departments and NPA Staff to participate and contribute to:
Ø  Gathering information and data collection from partner projects ,about key competencies and project gaps for intervention by NPA women’s rights projects through established structures
Ø  Onsite briefing, coaching and Mobilization of partners on the ground
Ø  Organize logistics, workshop venues and material for project related meetings and events
Ø  Prepare briefs on key points regarding meetings attended  and issues arising based on developed systems
Ø  Administrative assistance to the project
Carry out any other tasks within his/her competence as directed by the Project officer.
Competencies
Ø  At least 6 months work experience in Project Cycle management, Administration or any of the social sciences.
Ø  A team player with networking skills able to work with minimal supervision
Ø  Ability to work in a multicultural environment
Ø  Good written and spoken English. Knowledge of Arabic and/or a local Southern Sudanese dialect  an added advantage
Ø  Basic computer skills
Education level:
Ø  Diploma or  Certificate in Project Cycle Management, Administration or any of the social science s
Ø  Certificate or 6 months  experience in Women’s empowerment issues , particularly gender
Ø  Certificate or demonstrable experience in TOT training
Ø  Certificate or demonstrable experience in dealing with Logistical and administrative issues.
