VSF Germany is an international Non Governmental Organization, providing humanitarian aid and development assistance to pastoralists and vulnerable communities in areas where livestock is of importance. In the region, VSF Germany implements activities in southern Sudan, Kenya, Somalia, Tanzania and Ethiopia.
With support in animal health, agriculture, marketing, food safety but also with developing the capacity of communities and governmental institutions or initiating peace and conflict resolution we work towards food security and strengthened livelihoods of pastoralist communities.
We are looking for a qualified, competent person, upbeat with the evolving Information Technology world. The incumbent will be based at the Regional Office Nairobi with occasional travels to the field offices.
Key responsibilities
• Support the management of office network and operating system, through server based network.
• Installation of up to date antivirus on all computers and valid backup system.
• General maintenance and service of IT equipments including Computers, printers, external devices and network devices.
• Manage library system and ensure the users can access information from the library.
• Support the financial management system operations (Microsoft Navision).
• Design and develop program manuals using Adobe illustrator & Corel Draw.
• Website Design, upgrading, development and content management.
• Support Satellite offices IT needs in different locations within the region.
• Management and upgrading of Library system and data base management system.
• Manage the office Telephone PABX system.
• Manage IT Hardware preventive maintenance support.
• Manage and maintain the windows 2007 Active Directory Advise in procurement of ICT equipments.
• Perform e-mail server administration including user account management.
• Advise in procurement of ICT equipments.
Qualifications, Experience, Attributes & Skills required
• Degree in Computer Science/ Information Communication Technology
• Excellent knowledge about MDaemon mail server, MS Exchange and Linux
• Over 3 years experience of IT work in a busy office.
• Ability to train staff in basic computer packages.
• Ability to work independent and with a minimal supervision.
• Ready to travel to the field
• Experience of file share using FTP
• Able to set up automatic back up system for all users including the remote users
• Excellent computer knowledge, upbeat with the evolving Information Technology.
• A good team worker.
• Ability to provide technical advice and resolve day to day IT issues.
