Automotive Service Mechanic Trainee



The position holder will be expected to restore vehicles into serviceable conditions after a breakdown or a road accident.  He/She will inspect, troubleshoot and repair automobiles and light trucks that are powered by diesel or petrol. He/She will also perform basic routine car maintenance, and diagnose more complex problems to plan and execute vehicle repairs.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Examine and assess vehicle, perform standard checklist testing, compile and document repair cost estimates, and secure customers’ approval to perform repairs.
  • Test electronic computer components as per standard checklist for the car make
  • Troubleshoot fuel ignition system, and emissions control systems, using electronic testing equipment.
  • Check and repair, overhaul electro mechanical parts and engine parts as per repair manuals.
  • Document inspection and test results, repair work done and parts replaced for proper billing and record upkeep.
  • Test drive vehicle to confirm restored condition before calling the customer.
Skills and Specifications
  • Must be well-grounded in the electro mechanicals of automotive operations
  • Must have knowledge in the car electronic and computerized systems
  • He/She must be knowledgeable about computers and know the latest applications for testing and simulations
  • Excellent communication skills to explain to customers the nature of the car problem and why certain parts need to be replaced
  • Must have high comprehension skills to understand automotive blueprints and reference manuals.
  • He/She must be able to work in a team
  • He/She must have the ability to understand complex scenarios and decode them with ease
  • He/She must have great interpersonal skills.
  • He/She must be a quick observer and ready to learn new things.
Education and Qualifications
Those who are interested in this Trainee position must have a diploma in automotive engineering or Diploma Craft Course in Motor Vehicle Mechanics from a recognized institution. Those with prior experience in motor mechanics field & NYS graduates may be given a preference over the others. Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
REMUNERATION
   
Basic retainer for the first three months then salary & fringe benefits on confirmation.
