Job Summary:

The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) seeks a qualified candidate to fill the position of Research Coordinator at the Director General’s Office for a two-year, fixed-term, renewable appointment. Under the direct supervision of the Director General and in close collaboration with division directors, administrative managers, communications managers, and other staff as appropriate, the Research Coordinator will assist the Director General by conducting and coordinating analyses and syntheses on food, agriculture and nutrition policy issues.  This position based at IFPRI headquarters in Washington, DC.

Essential Duties:

·         Conducts and coordinates research, analysis, and synthesis on food policy issues as requested by the Director General.
·         Coordinates an annual flagship publication on global food policy issues
·         Coordinates the support to  the Director General in synthesizing, advocating and effectively presenting IFPRI’s research to high level stakeholders and partners
·         Drafts and edits reports, papers, policy briefs, and journal articles.
·         Coordinates publication of manuscripts with Communications Division and manuscript preparation with other researchers involved in collaborative projects.
·         Coordinating and supervising the Director General Office’s research support staff
·         Designs and coordinates presentation materials including PowerPoint.
·         Performs other job-related tasks as assigned by the Director General.

Required Qualifications:

·         PhD  in Economics Agricultural Economics, International Development, International Relations with a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience ; or Masters degree in Economics Agricultural Economics, International Development, International Relations, or related field,  with  4 years of  relevant work experience
·         Familiarity with food, nutrition, agricultural and rural development issues in developing countries
·         Demonstrated ability to synthesize results from social science research for the development community, including policy makers, policy advisers, and researchers
·         Ability to handle numerous tasks simultaneously, including projects and manuscripts at different stages of research and production
·         Excellent writing and editing skills
·         Excellent computer skills
·         Ability to interact and communicate with diverse audiences
·         Attention to detail
·         Ability and willingness to travel nationally and internationally as necessary

Preferred Qualifications:
·         Knowledge of the CGIAR system
·         Proficiency in a second language of the U.N. system.
