Capacity Development Coordinator Job in Nairobi Kenya - Liverpool VCT, Care & Treatment (LVCT)


Liverpool VCT, Care & Treatment (LVCT) is an established Kenyan NGO that utilizes research to inform policy reform advocacy and strengthen HIV service delivery.

We optimize our impact on the HIV/AIDS response by building capacity of partners and pay special attention to vulnerable groups and populations with special needs.

LVCT’s focus is on the scale-up of quality-assured HIV counseling, testing and care services.

We have vacancy for the following position:

Position: Capacity Development Coordinator - PCDO/LVCT/2011

Location: Nairobi

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage in the effective implementation and integration of capacity development at LVCT.
  • Provide mentorship and coaching on capacity development initiatives.
  • Support the identification of priority areas for training of sub-partners and develop strategic interventions to assist them.
  • Support the process of identifying organizations for sub-granting in line with the LVCT policies and donor requirements.
  • Coordinate the developing of capacity development plans for the specific sub-partners.
  • Coordinate the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of LVCT’s sub-partner organizations.
  • Support the capacity development of sub-partners to engage in policy forums at their levels.
  • Ensure strong links between the capacity development programme and M&E systems to improve reporting and measuring results and impact.
  • Ensure that solid documentation is provided and maintained by each sub-partner under different capacity development grants.
  • Coordinate sub-granting management systems to ensure high quality and consistency.
  • Ensure sub-partners report through set national M&E framework.
  • Work as part of the coordination team to increase funding sources for LVCT and provide resource mobilization support to sub-partners.
  • Represent LVCT at strategic meetings and public forums related to its mission and programs.
  • Initiate and maintain strong, ongoing partnerships with relevant community, including government agents, sub-partners and other stakeholders to collaborate on relevant and strategic capacity development programme implementation.
Requirement
  • A master’s degree in organizational development, social sciences, public health or other related fields.
  • At least three (3) years work experience at supervisory level of a multi-stakeholder programme in relevant sectors.
  • Good understanding of HIV policies and programs in the Kenyan environment.
  • Experience in working with the Ministries of Health at different levels.
  • Working knowledge of regulations applicable to health systems strengthening/organizational system strengthening/grants management and administration.
  • Proven and extensive experience in developing winning proposals targeting key donors.
  • At least three (3) years in capacity development and/or grants management.
  • Proven project management skills.
  • Good data management and report writing skills.
  • Highly proficient in MS Office suite, spreadsheets and database skills.
  • Intellectual depth and maturity to work with staff, government officials and other leaders.
  • Detail orientation, with an ability to operate in a well organized manner.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • A team player.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Those with previous experience in working with USG agencies have an added advantage.
