THE CARTER CENTER 
Vacancy Announcement 

The Carter Center supports the Ministry of Health - Government of
Southern Sudan’s Southern Sudan Guinea Worm Eradication and Trachoma
Control Programs.  Accordingly, the Carter Center seeks a qualified
candidate for the following post: 
Title:  Data Clerk
Duty Station:   Juba, Southern Sudan
Duration:       One-year service contract (after three-month probationary
period)
Closing Date:   January 1, 2012 
Position Description
The Data Clerk, under the direct supervision of the Data Manager and
the overall supervision of the Resident Technical Advisor, assists
technical staff and senior programme managers by providing accurate
technical data for programmatic decision-making.  Specific duties
include – but are not limited – to the following:
a)      Review and correct hand-written reports.
b)      Filing of hand-written reports
c)      Communicating with technical staff regarding data discrepancies and
errors and ensuring issues are resolved effectively.
d)      Enter technical data into the TCP and SSGWEP databases.
e)      Generate basic data analyses.
f)      Review and correct output reports of any errors.
g)      Make recommendations for information technology systems’
improvement.
h)      Perform other duties as assigned by the Data Manager and/or Lead
and Assistant Data Managers. 
Qualifications:
Minimum –
a)      Two (2) years of experience in data entry and/or data management.
b)      Sudanese National
c)      Fluency in English
d)      Able to work calmly under pressure and to meet deadlines
e)      Maintain confidentiality of information
f)      Able to create and foster teamwork.
g)      Willingness to assume additional responsibilities as requested by
the immediate supervisor. This could include fieldwork, support on
surveys, support with logistics, book-keeping, cleaning, etc.
h)      Demonstrated ability to use MS Excel, MS Word and email
applications in a professional setting.
