The NetHope Academy Internship Program connects unemployed computer science, engineering, and ITgraduates with opportunities to gain professional job skills and experience through internships at local NGOs, government agencies and corporations. There is skill gap between fresh graduates and what employers are looking for in entry level IT resources. The NetHope Academy helps bridge that gap by providing qualified young IT professionals with great experience and host organizations with talented interns.

The NetHope Academy Internship Program provides classroom, online, and on the job training that is designed to help fresh graduates build the practical skills needed to find full time employment in the IT sector. Through this program participants will gain professional job skills and experience through a 4-6 month internship in an IT department. Interns will also benefit from over 200 hours of technical and non-technical classroom training during the NetHope Academy Internship Program. Upon successful completion of the program, interns are well positioned to acquire full time IT jobsin Kenya. The NetHope Academy Internship program is highly competitive - last March we received over 300 applications, and only 10% of the applicants were accepted.
The best candidates for this program are recent graduates who:
- Are interested in pursuing a career in Information and Communication Technologies
- Have recently received degrees or are working towards a degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or information systems management
- Have a demonstrated passion for technology
- Are able to participate full time in a two-week Boot Camp training session from July 23-August 3, 2012
- Are able to participate in a 4-6 month internship, 32-40 hours a week from August 2012 – January 2013
- Are willing to invest a minimum of 8 hours per week studying for Certification exams, attending instructor-led classes and using web based training to build additional technology and soft skills
- Are proficient in speaking and writing the English language
- Have a positive attitude and good work ethic
- Are willing to support future classes of interns by remitting back a total sum of USD $2000 upon successful employment spread acrossa reasonable time frame
NetHope Academy interns receive the following benefits from participating in the program:
- At least 100 hours of classroom training (technical and non-technical skills)
- Over 200 hours on online training (technical and non-technical skills)
- Internship assignments at local/international NGOs, government agencies and corporates
- Subsequent job placement support to secure meaningful employment
- Coaching and mentorship from the NetHope Academy Intern Program team
