Background:

The Elections Observation Group (ELOG) is a coalition of Kenyan civil society organizations was established in 2010 to provide a permanent national platform through which citizens can monitor general elections in Kenya and other countries in Africa.
ELOG envisions credible, peaceful, free and fair elections in Kenya and Africa. Its mission is to promote democratic governance in Kenya and other African countries by ensuring that countries hold regular, transparent, accountable and credible elections.
The Elections Observation Group (ELOG) coalition is comprised of eleven organizations: Catholic Justice and Peace Commission (CJPC); Centre for Governance and Development (CGD); Consortium for Empowerment and Development of Marginalized Communities (CEDMAC); Constitution and Reform Education Consortium (CRECO); Ecumenical Centre for Justice and Peace (ECJP); Federation of Women Lawyers of Kenya (FIDA); Institute for Education in Democracy (IED); National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK); Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims (SUPKEM); United Disabled Persons of Kenya (UDPK); Youth Agenda (YA).
ELOG is seeking to recruit a qualified and experienced and individual to fill the above position.

Duties: Under the overall supervision of the National Coordinator, the LTO Coordinator will manage the ELOG Long term observation project (November 2012-March 2013) and will undertake the following duties:

• Organize for the recruitment, training and deployment of ELOG Phase two Long Term Observation;
• Build strong relationships and manage effective communication with Long Term Observers to ensure that information easily flows between LTOs and ELOG;
• Oversee the timely distribution of LTO checklists and transmission back to ELOG Secretariat within the given timelines;
• Manage the ELOG Call centre;
• Oversee efficient data entry and data analysis of the LTO reports;
• Ensure timely preparation of weekly/monthly/quarterly and final Long Term Observation report or other briefs, updates as required
• Assist in preparation of conferences, workshops and help to conduct necessary facilitation to ensure successful dissemination of the LTO reports
• Perform other duties assigned.

Qualification and Experience Required:

• Minimum of University Degree in social sciences or related field
• Experience in recruiting and organizing volunteers
• Enthusiastic and Energetic personality; willing to work long hours
• Excellent communication skills
• Experience with election-related work and sound political judgment
• Possess some experience with Information Technology
• Familiarity with the new Constitutional and IEBC demarcation of counties and constituencies.
• Must possess high level of integrity and objectivity.

Duration of Assignment: November 2012 until March 2013
