Mantra Tanzania Limited (Mantra), a wholly owned subsidiary of Mantra Resources Limited, is focused on the potential development of a Uranium Mine at the Mkuju River Project (MRP) in the Namtumbo District of Ruvuma RegIOn. Mantra is completing a Defmitive Feasibility Study for the Project which is managed by DRA of South Africa and has applied to the Government of United Republic of Tanzania for a Special Mining Licence with the aim of commencing mine and plant construction early in 2011.

To that end Mantra is seeking to recruit individuals who can meet the technical requirements and demonstrate a commitment to continuously perform and improve in the area of safety, to fill the following vacancy.
Summary:
The successful candidate will provide leadership and technical support to Mkuju River Project to ensure that all Mantra Tanzania activities comply with best practice safety management standards, all local and national government relationships in respect of safety matters are appropriately represented and managed, Mantra Tanzania has the best safety management system that is aligned with corporate policy and programmes, the department is ready and available to provide specialist advice, assistance and education and training to enable line management and contractors to achieve accountability for Safety management
Duties:
• Implementation of the Mantra Tanzania Safety System at the Mkuju River Project.
• Ensure all Mkuju River Project activities comply with the requirements of the Mantra Tanzania Limited's Safety System and any applicable legislative requirements.
• Providing visible and high level safety support to the Project and Contractor personnel to ensure the safe and efficient operation ofMkuju River Project operations and ass()ciated infrastructure.
• Implementation of Safety and Training programs on site as required and to liaise with environmental, medical and security teams when necessary.
• Ensure all 'personnel and contractors comply with Mkuju River Project specified training procedures, policies and systems.
• Ensure all contractors' equipment is being maintained and monitored via a comprehensive system which is transparent and can be audited at any time, e.g. pre-start checks, maintenance scheduling and documented fault reporting and rectification.
• Actively facilitate the risk assessment process and promote a risk management culture at Mkuju River Project
• Implementation of safety statistics on a weekly, monthly and annual basis and report trends.
• Prepare a monthly report of activities and statistics conducted during the period in an accurate and timely manner for inclusion in the site-wide monthly report.
• Liaise with other sections in the Department to ensure integrated operation of the department and to achieve stated objectives.
• Encourage a teamwork approach to problem solving within the Department by practising clear concise communication.
• Strong influencing skills.
