IRC is seeking a qualified Sudanese national for following position:
The Cleaner, working under the supervision of the Deputy Protection Manager is primarily responsible for the maintenance of IRC properties to the proper clean and hygienic standards of IRC Office in Torit.
Specific Duties:
- Clean and maintain the office and residential premises on a daily basis by washing/dusting all horizontal surfaces (furniture, appliances, windowsills, countertops, ledges, etc.), removing trash, sweeping and mopping the floors.
- Clean outer areas as required (yards, walkways, patios, etc.).
- Prepare bathrooms by wiping down all ceramic surfaces (i.e., sink shower, etc.) with disinfectant, sweep and mop the floors, replace toilet paper and soap as required and empty waste paper baskets.
- Clean all toilets thoroughly each day using the appropriate disinfectant.
- Verify that all plumbing is in proper working order (i.e., water pressure is adequate, all drains are clear and functional, toilet operates satisfactorily, all facets work, etc.), and report any issues to the supervisor.
- Verify functionality of premises infrastructure and property and promptly report any issues to the supervisor. Issues may include: burnt out light bulbs, poorly fitted doors/locks, broken or under-performing appliances, faulty electrical work, damaged mosquito nets/window screens, etc.
- Request from Supervisor new stock (e.g., cleaning materials/equipment, toilet paper, etc.) a week before supplies are depleted.
- Maintain a personal standard of cleanliness and hygiene at all times.
Additional Requirements:
- Basic literacy in order to be able to perform duties
- Completion of primary and/or secondary school or equivalent an advantage.
- At least one year’s previous experience working as a cleaner in a similar environment.
- Dedicated with a strong work ethic and a strong attention to detail.
- Reliability, honesty and integrity.
- Ability to comprehend and communicate clearly.
- Fluency in Arabic. Knowledge of English
