Deputy Protection Manager Job in Torit

IRC is seeking a qualified Sudanese national for following position:

Deputy Protection Manager – Torit
IRC’s Deputy Protection Manager will oversee the protection monitoring and reporting component in Torit.  In this capacity, the DPM will be responsible for day-to-day supervision and oversight of village assessments, monitoring teams, and implementation of the requirements of the project in Northern Bahr el Ghazal.

Specific Duties:

  • Provide the Juba-based Protection Manager with weekly progress reports
  • Supervise and support the return monitoring team in Eastern Equatoria to complete village assessments, focus group discussions and individual interviews in areas of high return
  • Process, compile, and submit UNHCR Village Assessment Forms and protection reports
  • Help design methodology /collect information for thematic reports on protection concerns highlighted by UNHCR
  • Supports training team to deliver effective community-level workshops and work with local protection committees
  • Ensure that monitoring visits respect principles of confidentiality of interviewees and that all incidents reported to IRC are handled with due regard to protection principles
  • Liaise with UNHCR in Torit to disseminate findings and identify additional support for communities to address needs highlighted during return monitoring
  • Represent IRC in relevant coordination forums to share information and advocate on protection concerns
  • Ensure coordination between the monitoring / training teams, as well as with their Juba-based counterparts
  • Oversee the monitoring work plan and spending plan for the monitoring team in the Torit Office

Additional Requirements
  • Higher degree in a related field (Law, Human Rights)
  • Minimum of four years of professional experience in protection monitoring and/or human rights-based work
  • Fluent English (written and spoken) and Arabic; knowledge of local languages preferred (Acholi, Madi)
  • Prior experience of working  in a similar role in a multi-cultural environment
  • Good communication and staff management skills
  • Excellent computer literacy (Microsoft Office, Word and Excel spreadsheets; Outlook)
  • Ability to supervise others and provide on-the-job mentoring when necessary
  • Report writing in English and training experience required
  • Ability to represent the IRC Return Monitoring Team at meetings with donors and in coordination forums
