Driver – Torit (With frequent travel throughout Central and Eastern Equatoria States – 2 Positions)

IRC is seeking qualified Sudanese nationals for following position:
 Driver – Torit (With frequent travel throughout Central and Eastern Equatoria States – 2 Positions)
To provide safe, secure, timely, and reliable transportation for IRC staff and implementing partners. To maintain the vehicles up to IRC standards through performance of regular checks.  To comply with the IRC driving rules and regulations as well and Southern Sudanese traffic laws.

Specific Duties:

  • Drive IRC employees and/or equipment to their destinations as requested in a safe, courteous, and law-abiding manner
  • Assist passengers with loading/unloading of goods into/out of vehicles
  • Observe IRC vehicle policies and procedures at all times, including the updating of log books, wearing of seatbelts, and keeping parked vehicles secure
  • Clean and inspect the vehicles daily and promptly report any maintenance or mechanical issues to the administration
  • Perform basic maintenance on vehicles when required and as appropriate
  • Ensure that radios are functioning and that radio check is carried out as required
  • Verify mechanical soundness, safety, and presence of proper equipment
  • Confirm road conditions and security at the start of every journey into the field
  • Operate VHF and HF radios within standard operating procedures
  • In case of accident, immediately report to logistics by filling out an incident report form
  • Accompany protection staff into the field including on overnight missions
  • Any other duties as requested by logistics, admin, or the protection manager
 
Additional Requirements
  • Must possess a valid Sudanese Driving License
  • Must demonstrate ability to operate 4WD vehicles safely in city and field conditions
  • Must be patient and hard working
  • Must be respectful of staff and beneficiaries
  • At least 2 years experience as a driver with an NGO or international organization
  • Mechanical experience preferred
  • Knowledge of English, Arabic, and Equatorian Language required
