Background:
Japan Center for Conflict Prevention (JCCP) is a non-governmental organization established in 1999 in Japan. JCCP’s mission is to contribute to world’s peace and security through building human and social capacity for conflict prevention and peace-building. JCCP specializes in capacity building of NGOs and civil society, community security, training of personnel in peacekeeping operations, peace-building, and education and livelihood support in post-conflict societies. JCCP currently has three sub-offices worldwide: Kenya (overseas operations in Kenya and Somalia), Balkans and Sudan. JCCP in Sudan implements projects to support vulnerable children and youth in Juba through provision of sensitization and vocational training.
Duties and responsibilities:
Under the direct supervision of the Project Manager/Representative and the Project Coordinator, the Project Officer will perform the following duties:
§ Manage vocational training and sensitization projects targeting disadvantaged youths and children;
§ Take the lead in developing curriculum and teaching materials for sensitization activities;
§ Facilitate sensitization sessions directly with target population or through community members and other partners;
§ Take the lead in developing questionnaires for project evaluation and conducting evaluation;
§ Produce periodic progress reports on project activities;
§ Assist in conducting assessments for new project formulation and drafting proposals;
§ Supervise/Coordinate a team of two social workers and five community mobilizers to implement project activities;
§ Represent JCCP in thematic meetings;
§ Build good relation with beneficiary population and community;
§ Liaise with the authority; and
§ Conduct any other tasks as assigned by the supervisors
Qualification and Requirements:
§ University Degree or Diploma in Social Science, Development, Juvenile Justice, Peace Studies or other relevant field
§ At least 5 years of progressive working experience in a related field (i.e. project management, facilitation, awareness raising, working with children or other vulnerable groups)
§ Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office
§ Ability to manage multiple tasks by setting priority
§ Ability to maintain a good relationship with colleagues, beneficiaries, partners, government, donor organizations and other stakeholders
§ Approaches work with positive constructive attitude
§ Cross cultural awareness and sensitivity
§ Excellent spoken and written English and spoken Arabic
§ Sudanese National
