PROJECT OFFICER'S JOB in Tanzania

Intervita Onlus is an Italian, non-confessional, non-political, independent Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) cooperating for development. It collaborates with local partners in thirteen countries of the World, in order to improve the living conditions of vulnerable populations and to fight against poverty and inequality.

The projects of Intervita are multidimensional. They are focused onto education, health, food security, economic development, gender parity, child rights and environment. All of the activities have the fundamental component of the community participation, through which Intervita and its NGO partners aim to achieve a long term and sustainable development. Education and health are the priorities, therefore the projects are based on the Long Distance Sponsorship Programme (LDSP), which is implemented in primary schools for students of 4 to 8 years of age.



Intervita Tanzania, a branch of Intervita Onlus, is officially registered in the United Republic of Tanzania as international NGO. In order to cover and develop effectively its activities, it is seeking a young, serious, self motivated, honest, hardworking and committed



PROJECT OFFICER



Supervised by the Country representative, S/he will be in charge of the following tasks:



- Daily monitor of the Projects / Programmes, through the appropriate use of the Project Cycle Management, through the relationship with the local partner organizations involved, and through the work on the field

- Provide documentation about the results of the above mentioned Projects / Programmes, and spread good practices and innovations

- Coordinate and supervise the LDSP, making sure that all Intervita procedures are respected

- Implement the LDSP field work and coordinate of the LDSP field staff, even through direct involvement in the very pragmatic activities

- Oversee the processing of the data collected for the LDSP, in line with Intervita procedures

- Actively cooperate with the local administrative department of Intervita

- Edit both “subject-specific” and periodical monthly reports

- Identify new partners and new project proposals

- Represent Intervita, when commissioned by the Country representative, in front of public authorities which could be directly or indirectly involved into Intervita activities (LDSP / Project / Programmes)

- Perform any other duty that might be assigned by the Country representative



Candidates’ profile:

- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work / Social Administration / Community Development or equivalents (Master’s degrees would give advantage)

- Minimum experience of three years in equivalent positions

- Deep knowledge of the Project Cycle Management

- At ease with logical frameworks

- Proved experience about the identification, the design, the implementation, the administrative / financial managing, and eventually the evaluation of Projects and programmes of development

- Familiarity and cleverness with LDSP

- Strong organizational skills

- Fluency in both spoken and written English

- Excellent and concise written reporting faculties

- Smooth capability of interrelation with public authorities at ward and district level

- Brilliant computer abilities (Windows & Microsoft Office package; familiarity with FTP is advantage)

- Flexibility to work in challenging environment

- Willingness to travel and to work on the field

- Motivated team worker



Location:

- The office is based in Dar Es Salaam

- The job requires frequent travelling as well as working on the field



The Project Officer will be trained about Intervita LSDP procedures and about the database for data processing.
