IRC is seeking a qualified Sudanese national for following position:
Senior Training Officer – Juba (With frequent travel throughout Central and Eastern Equatoria States)
The Senior Training Officer, in coordination with the Training Officer and the Deputy Protection Manager will be responsible for capacity building and information sharing at the community-level as well as designing and delivering workshops for other rule of law, protection, or government stakeholders.
Specific Duties:
- In coordination with other trainers, play an instrumental role in revising community-based human rights training tools and modules appropriate for adult learners
- Design, schedule and facilitate participatory community-based protection trainings throughout Central and Eastern Equatoria as required, spending as much as 50% of work time in Eastern Equatoria
- Design and facilitate capacity-building workshops for external stakeholders throughout Central / Eastern Equatoria
- Coordinate with local activists, and chiefs to encourage participation in local trainings and protection committees
- Establish, support, and build capacity of community-based protection committees in key areas of high return
- Coordinate closely with the Return Monitoring Team regarding which communities should be targeted for trainings, which communities would be appropriate for protection committees, etc.
- Compile training reports to contribute to the analysis of patterns of return and raising awareness of access and protection concerns at the community level
- Supervise the preparation of budgets and work plans for the training program and for each training
- Ensure that all necessary documentation is prepared and submitted in advance of each training mission, including TORs, payment requests, and procurement requests
- Ensure that necessary documentation is submitted to finance to reconcile any cash spent during trainings
Additional Requirements:
- University Degree in social sciences, law, human rights or related field
- At least 4 years community-based training experience involving human rights and/or protection
- Experienced in designing and facilitating community-based protection trainings
- Prior management experience necessary
- Able to work in a variety of environments and is prepared to be in the field a majority of the work week
- Relates and works well with people of different cultures, gender and backgrounds
- Familiarity with customary laws, judiciary systems and legal developments and issues in Southern Sudan
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Email application software
- Fluency in English and Arabic required and knowledge of at least one Equatorian Language preferred
